How to create daily miracles in your life

What if a miracle just happened?

You wake up one morning and everything about your life, your business, your finances and your relationships were as you always dreamed. What would you notice?

I believe that future exists and we were born with the key to unlock it. Here is how I found my key.

I believe that we were all created for greatness

Want proof?  Ask a child under 10 what they want to be when they grow up. They have no limiting beliefs. Everything is achievable. My son wants to be a pro baseball player and the President of the United States. He has ZERO doubt that he will achieve both. As a boy I always had this sense that my life was meant to mean something great, just like my son does now.

If you examine the successes in your life, you will see where you were working in your areas of your strengths, gifts and talents. Focus on your strengths and work on them intentionally every day.

Inspiration

The people in life that I most admire are the ones that never let circumstances and the expectations limit them. Sure they have failed, some over and over, but they always find a way to move forward. See each failure as just one possible outcome, learn from it and continue your journey. These are the people that have embraced their potential and never gave up on the belief that they could do even more. All of the entrepreneurs we read about and listen to on podcasts represent a tiny fraction of the population.

What is the difference between a life of quiet desperation and one of extraordinary fulfillment? The difference starts with understanding who we are.

Here is what God says about it:

Psalm 139:14 “I will praise you; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.”

What would your 10 year old self say to you today?

I believe you would hear “you can do it!” For me, the circumstances and expectations of the world silenced the quiet call of my heart. The first step in breaking in to my full potential was setting big, scary goals and then telling someone about them.

Aim for the moon. If you miss, you may hit a star.   –  W. Clement Stone

Don’t let the world label you. If you are fearfully and wonderfully made listen to the passions of your heart and you will be amazed at what you can accomplish.

“When you label me you negate me.” – Søren Kierkegaard

The way forward

These labels combined with our self talk have profound effects on our lives. Our limbic brain controls our thoughts and feelings and is the computer that determines how we operate in the world. It is largely programmed by the age of 10. If we are told we are lazy, forgetful, or bad at math, we live the rest of our live trying to prove that, consciously and unconsciously. It takes incredible focus and effort to over come but is not hard once you know how. It is like rewriting the code for an app. For programmers it is fun. For me, I hired a coach, which made all the difference.

At the end of the movie ‘The Polar Express,’ the hero of the movie receives a silver bell from Santa.  When he shakes it, the most beautiful sounds are heard. When his Dad picks it up and shakes it, he hears nothing. “Sorry pal, it must be broken.”

To hear the music again, focus on your strengths, believe in yourself, find great mentors and embrace your true potential!

Remember, who you will be in five years is determined by what books you read and who you associate with.

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” ― Jim Rohn

For Discussion

  • What are your core values?
  • Do you have time set aside to intentionally work in your strengths?
  • What is one thing you want to accomplish in the next year and what are you willing to do to get it done?
