Prayer For Redemption Of Work

Hi, I’m Michael Redman. And I’m Kathryn Redman.

Today we have the privilege of praying with you about the mountain of business.

We have a huge heart for the redemption of work- for people understanding, for believers understanding, that God is a worker. He didn’t create work.

He is a worker. (Genesis 1) In the garden Adam was commanded to act like Him and to be like Him, and God gave him work (Genesis 2:15).

He gave him an assignment. He told him to tend the garden and then to name the animals.

And through that work, Adam had purpose and authority and responsibility because he was acting like his father. Unfortunately, sin comes in and messes up work (Genesis 3).

It messes up everything. Labor at that point becomes toil. And unfortunately, too many believers still think that work is a curse.

But we say, you know what, work is not a curse. Work is actually something that God is in the business of restoring dignity to, and He wants you to be in the middle of that.

In Christ, as we’re restored, the work is restored. And we get the ability and the power to move into labor and purposefully acting out of how God works.

We get to do that in our lives.

So, we want to pray for that right now and the restoration of work and the redemption of work in the mountains.

Prayer

Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit, we pray that you would bless our nation.

That You would bless our nation in the area of work, and You would renew our sense that work is full of Your glory.

Work is actually not something to just get us to the weekend, but it is something that provides purpose and authority and responsibility as we reflect Your glory.

Lord, I pray for my brothers and sisters that they would so be excited in their soul today that You have given them this gift of work, of contribution.

Would You cause them to reconnect with their purpose. Yes Lord. And Father, we pray these things in the name of Jesus.

Have a wonderful week and go out there and look at work in a redeemed way.
