Today, Keith Boyer leads us in a prayer for humility. Keith is the lead pastor of 3D church in the Denver Metro area.

Recently, Keith got together with a friend who immigrated to the US with his family a few years ago. While they were together, Keith asked him some questions about what’s happening in our country.

Keith said, “What do you see? What is one of the greatest needs? Sometimes somebody from the outside can be more objective.”

Keith’s friend was a little bit hesitant to say anything, but he finally said, “You know, Keith, I think what’s really lacking and greatly needed among believers in general in the US is humility.”

I want to focus on that big idea here and our verse for today is 1 Peter 5:5:

All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

Actually, another translation says he multiplies grace and favor to the humble.  If there was ever a time where our nation needed God’s favor, it is now.

Prayer

Father, we thank You, that You are for us and not against us, that You love us and have our best in mind. The only way to enter into your kingdom, whatever sphere we’re in, is through humility and we do that right now.

In fact, as we pray as Jesus taught us to, that your kingdom would come and your will would be done, we are asking for your reign, your leadership to be established in our lives. We’re coming under your authority so that we live under your reign, your influence.

What comes out of our lives, in whatever context we find ourselves, whatever room we’re in, it could be a courtroom; it could be a board room; it could be a classroom; it could be a living room or a bedroom, God we are asking there that the manifestation of the evidence of your kingdom having come to the earth would find expression in those environments.

God, in every arena: school; neighborhoods; communities; places of work; in the world of social media, Father, let heaven touch earth today. We humble ourselves before You, and we acknowledge how much we need You.

We pray right now that your kingdom would come and your will would be done here on the earth like it is in heaven. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

God bless you. Have a great day!

Keith Boyer

The message of grace first broke through in Keith’s life when he was 19 and in college working on his business degree. In the early years of a promising business partnership, Keith sensed a significant shift in God’s purpose for his life, from business to vocational ministry. One year later and newly married, Keith was invited by his pastor, Greg Surratt, to come on staff and work with students and young adults.
A few years later, Keith became the lead pastor. Under his leadership, the church grew from a few hundred people attending services in one location, to several thousand people attending at one of 9 locations across 4 states. As the church grew and expanded to other cities and states, they raised up, equipped, and sent out some of their pastors to plant new churches as well.
