Prayer for the Worker

Today, Paul Nichols leads us in a prayer for the worker. Paul is a chaplain for the United Auto Workers Union and has been for 30 years.

I realized that there is a love that happens when you work on the job with your fellow workers and you give them honor and respect, and they show that back to you. The praise of God and the beauty of God is shown through your life. You may not do that much talking, but it is important that you show your fellow worker that you love and care for them through your aspiration for God.

I have been very blessed to be able to do that and work among both the workers and the management. I have been able to be there for them and love them, even during the dark hours of funeral services. It says in Psalms 111:

PRAISE THE Lord! Hallelujah! I will praise and give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart in the council of the upright and in the congregation. The works of the Lord are great, sought out by all those who have delight in them. His work is honorable and glorious, and His righteousness endures forever. He has made His wonderful works to be remembered. The Lord is gracious, merciful and full of loving compassion.

That’s the word of God. When we look at God’s Word, that’s what gives us our roadmap. That is what gives us our direction.

Prayer

Father, we come before You, knowing You are the author and You are the finisher of our faith. We ask, Lord, that we and our brothers may look to you, and be able to understand that the praise and the hallelujahs that come from our lips, that come from our hearts because you are Lord and we are not. I’m just so amazed that God is God and I am not. I am glad, Lord, that is the way it is! We give You praise; we give You honor; and we thank You for your loving kindness, your mercy and your grace, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
