He has spent his entire life and career as an entrepreneur and business owner. Today, he works with other CEOs and business owners in the small and medium-size business segment to help them expand their influence and impact.
It’s amazing how impactful the platform of commerce can be, relative to impacting lives, advancing the Kingdom and making an eternal impact.
I believe so many of the challenges we face today as a nation point us back to the business sector making an appeal to heaven.
I have a picture on my wall of George Washington appealing to Heaven and his prayer at Valley Forge. I am also integrating this with a book that I love. It is very simple, very short (my kind of book) called, “Praying the Bible.”
My prayer today is going to be right out of Scripture, from the book of Psalms. This book is simply a great way to learn practical ways to enrich praying the Bible, the experience of literally praying in God’s word.
I’m praying a prayer from Psalm 143 that a business mentor of mine shared with and encouraged me, almost two decades ago, to engage in, perhaps even as a daily prayer, which I have done. I’m sharing with you something I have prayed daily:
Prayer
Psalm 143, verses 8 through 12.
David calls out and says, “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, Lord, for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up (here, I insert the words ‘and surrender my soul,’ as surrendering has been such a key piece of my journey with Jesus.)
“Heavenly Father, rescue me from my enemies, for I hide myself in you. Teach me, Lord Jesus, to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit, my helper and my friend, lead me on level ground. For your name’s sake, Lord, preserve my life; in your righteousness, bring me out of trouble. In your unfailing love, Heavenly Father, silence my enemies; destroy all my foes, for I am your servant.”
And we pray this in the authoritative and powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
