As we read through Scripture and as we get to know Jesus, we were promised a life of love, joy, and peace. But that is not how we often feel.- Elizabeth Grace Saunders
Just like with money, if we are financially strapped, it’s hard for us to be generous with others. With time, if we’re “time poor”, it’s also hard to be generous with others.
We can’t give others what we don’t have. – Elizabeth Grace Saunders
At one point in Elizabeth’s career, she was achieving so much and getting plenty of recognition, but she still felt empty. That changed when she started giving God the glory in her business.
Her book, Divine Time Management, is for “Type A” people: those who are too good at being organized. She noticed that there is a tendency for self-idolatry in high-achievers with strict time management systems. The excessive boundaries, order, and prioritization actually manages God out of one’s system by taking away a sense of dependence or trust in Him. The book focuses on how one could put trusting God back in the center of time management.
Elizabeth briefly discussed he three key sections of her book:
- Trusting God at the center of one’s time management
- Love for one’s true identity
- Alignment with God
Your true identity is who you think that you are, whereas false identity is who you think you have to be. – Elizabeth Grace Saunders
But how can you discover your true identity? To find it, ask yourself: What makes me feel fully alive?
I truly believe that God created us to do things that give us joy and make us feel fully alive. – Elizabeth Grace Saunders
