How often do we hear people pray for business, for business owners and market leaders, and pray for a business partnership with God?
Today’s podcast features the journey of a woman who ignored God’s calling to establish His Kingdom in the market world and how God persisted and continued to communicate with her and reveal the plans He has for her until she finally gave in.
Vicki Finney, owner and founder of Marketplace ROCK used to work in the corporate world for more than 25 years. She’s an architect by profession and she spent 17 years practicing it. God began revealing His strong desire to build a deeper relationship with Vicki when she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma which is a type of cancer.
She got overwhelmed with frustration and disbelief and found herself crying every day, asking God why she had to go through that experience. During those conversations with God, Vicki could literally hear Him say “You’re not going to die from this. But you have to fight harder than you ever had to fight before.”
This brought her a new ray of hope and a reason to believe.
During these trying times, God also made known to Vicki His plan for intimacy with people in the business world. God revealed His deep desire to draw everyone working in the marketplace back into the awareness of His plans – both for their personal and work lives—all these through Vicki’s submission to His calling.
But Vicki still found herself doubting her capability to execute God’s calling; thinking that she is not enough, fearing that no one will listen. She asked God for impossible signs to justify that this was the plan He has for her. And God didn’t fail her.
Vicki became a member of the Denver House of Prayer where she realized that time spent in prayer for the business world was almost non-existent. In her heart she believed this was an overlooked area God was planning for her to help fill.
Vicki’s submission to God’s calling led her to build Marketplace ROCK (Reflections of Christ Kingdom); a ministry that provides prayers and intercession services for the workplace. Vicki’s passion is to see the power of prayer alive and active in the marketplace; transforming businesses, people, and situations for God’s glory.
Vicki wants to remind each one of us that we have powerful and impactful prayers and that God listens. Therefore, we must PRAY as often as we can and invite God into our hearts.
“Pray the bold prayers and wait expectantly for answers to them; if it’s on His heart and if it’s in alignment with His; He’s coming through for you.” – Vicki Finney

As Founder and Owner of Marketplace ROCK, Vicki’s passion is to see the power of prayer alive and active in the marketplace; transforming businesses, people, and situations for God’s glory.
Vicki was formerly a member of the leadership team at Denver House of Prayer where she recognized that time spent in prayer for the business world was almost non-existent. In her heart she believed this was an overlooked area God was calling her to help fill. She was drawn to the idea of praying for marketplace leaders by a series of events in her life. After 25+ years in the corporate world, the Lord began revealing the new path he had for her, including surviving cancer. It was during this cancer experience that God revealed his desire for a deeper relationship with her. And it was through this same experience that he revealed a plan for intimacy with people in the marketplace. It is His desire to draw everyone working in the marketplace back into awareness of His plans – for their personal as well as their work lives.
Over nearly a year’s time, the Lord showed Vicki that He wanted to use her passion for prayer, in conjunction with her project management and administrative gifts, for His kingdom purposes. The name Marketplace ROCK came from the Lord during that time. ROCK is an acronym for “Reflections of Christ’s Kingdom” and it is something He greatly desires for His people – to actively reflect and represent His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.
In addition to her spiritual discernment and coaching/problem solving skills, Vicki has over 17 years in the field of architecture, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Arts, with a minor in Counselor Education (Psychology) and a Master of Architecture degree.
