Linda Davis | Finding Your True Identity

Linda brings over 25 years of leadership experience and 15+ years of full time executive
and leadership coaching to her clients. Linda has coached aspiring executives, new leaders and high-potential women across hardware, technology, healthcare, and non-profit
organizations. In today’s podcast, Linda focuses on how to help women develop confidence in their unique value and how to risk courageously. She wants to help women, and men, to find their true identity in a world where everyone expects you to be someone you’re not and perform to their expectations. She shares personal struggles and challenges she encountered in looking for her true identity. She is so grateful to have God at the center of her life.

“No matter how good or bad our dad is, we need our heavenly Father to step in and speak into our identity.” – Linda Davis

Linda shares that it is our earthly father’s role to ‘call out the gold’ in their children-especially girls who start to lose confidence relative to boys in their teenage years. Confidence in our value and worth is more important then competence for success in life. As women, we tend to consistently underestimate our abilities and chances for success. The message of confidence and courage is also a critical role for fathers with daughters (and sons) at home and for men in the business world who, as corporate sponsors, want to retain and develop high performing women. It is actually our heavenly Father who loves us, partners with us and equips us to be courageous in stepping out, taking risks, learning to fail, letting go of perfectionism, and negotiating for what we want (in a way we wouldn’t naturally do).

When Linda came to faith in the Father at 38, she started to change her priorities but it didn’t really change her identity. It took her 20 years of walking with Jesus for that to change.

I think that the process of encountering His love and helping get a sense of true identity is really important.” – Linda DavisLinda Davis

She was reinforced by her Dad that her ‘who’ and her ‘do’ (performance) were the same. It was only when she encountered God‘s love through personal ministry, that she saw these as different. Forgiveness and getting rid of lies and negative mindsets (that we may carry around unknowingly) is the key to breakthrough. As we forgive and renounce lies, hand them to the Lord, He will graciously replace them with the truth of how He sees us and feels about us (even on our worst day).

“What the Lord God did for me is so profound I can hardly talk about it. He sent me a prophetic letter, a painting and a song where He talked about how beautiful I was.”Linda Davis

He always trades-up! We hand Him unforgiveness, lies and brokenness and He replaces them with love, truth and wholeness.

Whether we are coaching non-believers or walking alongside people who know Jesus, we need to be confident in who He says we are and embrace the truth. We want to be confident and believe in our value, and make sure that unforgiveness and lies are not blocking us from experiencing the love of God. After that, we can reveal the Father’s love to others. The courageous part is taking action and stepping into the things that are scary or things you’ve never done before. We trust that He has our back and we go out, take risks, learn how to fail, and keep going!

Linda believes that when we fail, and we are partnered with Him, He’ll show us what to do for even greater success. For more information about Linda Davis you can e-mail her at linda@ldavisleadership.com or find her website at http://ldavisleadership.com
